LTS Kernel 5.16.0-22.04 Causes 25s Boot Delay and TPM Firmware Bug on Some Systems
Affected Systems:
Systems running the Linux kernel version 5.16.0-22.04 LTS may experience a delay of approximately 25 seconds during the boot process.
Error Message:
Users may encounter the following error message when attempting to boot using the default mode:
dmesg grep tpm_crb
try against to boot into default mode
Cause:
The issue is related to a firmware bug in the tpm_crb msft0101
module that occurs after updating to kernel version 5.16.0-22.04 LTS.
Troubleshooting:
To resolve the issue, users can try the following steps:
- Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device security.
- Under Security processor, select Security processor details.
- Select Security processor troubleshooting.
