Simyo: A Brief History
From Discounter to MVNO
Simyo, once a subsidiary of E-Plus Service GmbH Co., emerged in May 2005 as a German mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). As a discount carrier, Simyo offered budget-friendly mobile services, solidifying its position in the market until its acquisition in July 2015. Following this acquisition, Simyo operated as a brand under the umbrella of various MVNOs.
European Expansion
Beyond Germany, Simyo also made a name for itself in the Netherlands and Spain. In the Netherlands, it is owned by KPN, while in Spain it is operated by Orange. Simyo's services have not been limited to European borders; it also offers prepaid options for international travelers visiting Spain.
