The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that they have named Chris Finch as their new head coach. Finch, who has spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors, will be introduced at a press conference on Wednesday, February 24.
"We are excited to welcome Chris Finch as the new head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves," said Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas. "Chris is a proven winner who has helped lead the Raptors to the NBA championship in 2019. He is a brilliant offensive mind who will help us reach our full potential."
Finch has been widely regarded as one of the top assistant coaches in the NBA. He has helped the Raptors develop into one of the most potent offensive teams in the league, led by All-Stars Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam.
Prior to joining the Raptors, Finch spent seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets. He also spent time as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Hornets and the Houston Rockets.
Finch is a native of England who played college basketball at Indiana University. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Indiana State University in 1995.
